Dean Georgalas presents a free workshop on the evolution of the bouzouki, one of Greece's most influential instruments, as part of the Mediterranean Collective series. The talk traces the instrument's development through pioneering musicians including Vassilis Tsitsanis, Markos Vamvakaris, Manolis Chiotis, George Zampetas and Kostas Papadopoulos, from the rebetiko era through to more technically advanced styles. Attendees will hear discussion, musical examples and historical context on the playing techniques and lasting influence of these artists. The event is held at Brunswick Artists' Bar on Sydney Road.
