History Through Film : The Coolbaroo Club
A documentary screening at Melton Library as part of the History Through Film series. This month's film covers the Coolbaroo Club, an Aboriginal-run dance club that operated in Perth from 1946 to 1960, told through the memories of those involved, stills, archival images and records, and extensive dramatisation. During its lifetime the club attracted Black musicians and celebrities from across Australia and occasionally overseas, among them Nat King Cole, Harold Blair and the Harlem Globetrotters.
