Mother Tongue is an intimate, hybrid, alcohol-free, wheelchair-accessible and trans-inclusive women's spoken word event in its 13th year, featuring a fabulous feature poet plus 8 open mic slots. June's feature artist is Jesse Echo, hosted by Fleassy Malay & Katie Lohner at Fairfield Uniting Church. Doors open 7:30pm, performance 8pm–10:30pm. All genders are welcome in the audience; the open mic stage is open to women and gender diverse individuals who align with womanhood. Entry $20 (concession $18); digital attendance is recommended donation $10 or pay as you can. Free entry for Companion Card holders and open mic performers; chai and vegan yummies available, BYO cup recommended; no one under 13 should attend.
